What we do

The Liebig Centre is dedicated to research and training in the areas of  Climate Change, Climate-Smart Agriculture, Nuclear Techniques in Agricultural, Water and Soil Management, and Insect Pest Control. Below find a list of related key projects, IAEA programmatic areas and services.

Current Research Projects:

  • Giessen Free Air Carbon dioxide Enrichment and elevated Temperature project (GiessenFACE, T-FACE)
  • Geisenheim FACE Experiments for grapevines and vegetables
  • Rapid elimination of invasive agricultural insect pest outbreaks

IAEA programmatic areas:

  • Development of the SIT for the Control of Disease Transmitting Mosquitoes aimed at Enhancing Member States Capabilities in Controlling Mosquito-borne Diseases
  • Developing climate smart agricultural practices for mitigation of greenhouse gases
